Kingston Wedding Photographer | Sarah Rouleau Photography | My 2019 Thank You Letter – One Decade Down… Many More to Come
You’re probably reading lots of “Best Of” lists today, but I don’t do a “Best Of” list because each every and every one of my clients are “The Best”. Instead I always write a heartfelt thank you to everyone that made 2019 the year that it was. Here is this year’s edition.
2019 closes out my first decade doing what I love, capturing the most important days in my client’s lives. It was my busiest, most challenging, most disciplined, year to date. I pushed myself more than I ever have, and was able to deliver photos to clients faster than ever. I forced myself out of my comfort zone, discovered new ways to shoot familiar spots and learned new skills.
Ten years in the photography business, in a market saturated with new photographers popping up every day is a feat in itself. Staying relevant and not fading into the sea of endless beautiful photos on social media has been a challenge but it’s encouraged me to reevaluate what I want to give to my clients. In a world of filters, and presets, my new goal this year was to only provide classic, timeless images that will stand up to the test of time. I want all of my clients to be able to proudly display their photos, with the goal of their images never looking dated. Remember colour selection where only the bride’s lips were lit up red? No thank you!
Thank you to all of my amazing colleagues whose hard work leading up to and on the wedding day literally gives me something to photograph. To all the makeup artists, hair stylists, florists, wedding dress shops, tuxedo renters, venue decorators, DJ’s, caterers, cake decorators, and limo drivers… you make my job easy just by doing what you all do best. Thank you to my family for your patience and understanding as I miss out on important events (like my son winning his first football championship) because even though I was there in spirit, I was physically not there. I was documenting memories instead. And most importantly, thank you to each and every client who trusted me with their most special day. I know I say it all the time, but it’s incredibly humbling and is truly an honor each and every time I’m trusted with a moment that will only happen once in someone’s lifetime. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
One decade done… so many more to come. Bring it on 2020! I’ll be watching, shooting, capturing it all… from behind my camera!
