Amy and Luke are Married!!
In 2009, the weekend before I shot my first wedding, I attended a wedding of a friend and Garrett Elliott was their wedding photographer. I already knew who Garrett was from following his work online. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to learn how to be a wedding photographer. I even had my friend ask if I could come and watch while Garrett shot their formals and wedding party photos. He graciously said yes, which many wouldn’t have allowed and was more than generous of him. I studied every move he made, mentally taking notes of everything he did, in the attempts of somehow making my photos as beautiful as his. I was terrified, and watching Garrett made me even more scared. I kept thinking “what am I thinking?” “I can’t do this!” “I’ll never be able to do this.” Little did I know that you couldn’t learn how to be a wedding photographer just by watching someone else photographing a wedding, it would take years of hard work, practise and experience. And I know that my photos are still not as beautiful as Garrett’s, but everything seemed to come full circle last September, when Garrett asked me to second shoot a wedding with him at Waring House in Picton. And again, just like in 2009, I studied his every move in the attempts of making my photos as beautiful as his. It was a gorgeous day, a beautiful wedding with a stunning couple and it was an honour to work with Garrett. Thank you Garrett for teaching me then and now. Check out his out Garrett’s work at http://www.garrettelliott.com/ Here are a few of my shots from that wonderful day! And Amy and Luke, thank you for allowing me to be part of your day! It was perfect in every way!! Congratulations!!
